About

"You may doubt that you have the right to tell that story, especially if you feel it's like one that others have experienced...what new or different perspective can you bring in your writing?"  Jessica Handler wrote these words in her book, Braving The Fire and it definitely hit home.  Over the last decade I have attempted several digital "journals" (if you will) and nothing ever came of them.  The last several years have blessed and cursed me with quite a few pivotal moments in my life.  Some moments were more amazing than life itself.  Some, for me, were quite horrific.  At the same time I am no one significant, no one extra special.  I have no amazing talent that will win me an Olympic metal, I stopped my pursuit of becoming a pioneer in an alternative treatment for children with autism, I won't change the lives of a population for the better.  I do, however, have an ordinary story of an ordinary girl.  A girl that faced and is still facing challenges.  And a girl, who at the same exact time, is so awesomely lucky in her life.  So many times I thought, "I just need to get these ideas, memories, and perceptions in writing."  For whatever reason I just thought I needed to.  Like they were something significant in the world.  But, really, they weren't...aren't...significant to the world.  Just my world.  Just my life, my ordinary life.  Then I thought perhaps I do have the right to tell my story!  Why not?  Perhaps I can do more!  Perhaps I will develop a blog and create an honest dialogue and add resources and experiences that have helped me succeed through my journeys.  Maybe it can be more than my life.

There is more to being a stay at home mom, a photographer, a previous special education teacher, and a state trooper's wife.  When you add in each dynamic a whole new one is created.  Then, throw in a couple medical issues on top of that.  Whew!  The stories that are brewin'!  It is my hope that other's can join in or be justified in their feelings based on sharing this blog.
